About Business & Therapy

Business & Therapy is an independent editorial publication covering the intersection of mental health practice and business strategy. We serve licensed clinicians, practice owners, mental health entrepreneurs, and the organizations they build.

Our editorial mission is simple: to produce credible, rigorous journalism about the business of mental health — written for practitioners who are building real businesses, navigating real systems, and serving real people.

What we cover

We publish across five editorial beat columns: Practice & Opinion, Founders & Practice, Research, Policy, and Tools & Tech. Each column has a defined voice, editorial instinct, and area of focus. We publish original features, research analysis, policy reporting, technology reviews, and opinion pieces — all grounded in the real experience of practitioners.

How we work

Every claim in every article is verified against its primary source before it publishes. Not a secondary article citing the source. The source itself. Numbers, dates, populations, and denominators all checked. If a claim cannot be verified, it does not publish as fact.

When a story requires it, we contact the people and organizations involved and ask what they think. We reach out for comment. We find the practitioners, the policymakers, the professionals on the ground and ask them. The human outreach is not optional and is not decorative. It is what separates curation from scraping.

Every piece reflects a genuine editorial position — not a summary of what other sources have said, but a point of view grounded in the evidence and worth defending. We take positions. We name the structural causes. We deliver verdicts. We do not hedge when the evidence does not warrant hedging.

What we practice has several names, none of them fully established yet. We call it information crafting — the deliberate, skilled assembly of verified information into something useful for a specific person in a specific situation. We call it curatorial journalism — the editorial work of knowing which sources to trust, which findings are genuine, and which claims deserve skepticism. We call it sense-making publishing — the work of taking an overwhelming information environment and making it navigable for practitioners who need to act on it.

We do not accept payment for editorial coverage. Our advertising and editorial operations are separate. If we write about a product, service, or organization, it is because we believe it is relevant to our readers — not because we have been paid to do so.

Business & Therapy uses AI tools to assist with research, retrieval, and assembly. Every piece is verified, edited, and owned by the ARM Digital editorial team.

Our beat columns

Practice & Opinion covers pricing strategy, caseload management, professional identity, and the cultural norms that shape how practitioners run their businesses. Opinion pieces take a position on profession-level questions and hold it without qualification.

Founders & Practice covers group practice operations, hiring, scaling, insurance systems, billing, private pay transitions, and business models for clinicians. Every piece is written for the practitioner in the middle of the problem right now.

Research covers clinical outcomes research, workforce data, psychotherapy effectiveness, burnout research, and the science behind mental health practice. We cite specific studies, name specific authors, and never overstate what the evidence actually says.

Policy covers mental health legislation, parity law, Medicaid and Medicare policy, insurance reform, credentialing reform, and workforce policy. We name the institutions, name the legislation, and connect policy decisions to the practitioners who live with their consequences.

Tools & Tech covers EHR platforms, telehealth infrastructure, AI documentation tools, and the clinical technology stack. We read the terms of service, ask about data export before asking about features, and always deliver a verdict.
